Privacy policy
Last updated 15 August 2026
This policy explains what personal information IGNYX collects, why, where it goes, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
IGNYX (PTY) LTD ("IGNYX", "we") is the responsible party for the personal information described here, under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Where your data actually lives
This matters more than most policies admit, so plainly:
- Most data stays on the device. IGNYX is offline-first. Incident records, photographs and rosters are stored locally.
- Shared incidents synchronise. When you share an incident with other devices, the incident record — including crew names, roles, phone numbers and positions — passes through our servers so the other devices can receive it.
- We do not sell personal information. Not to anyone, for any purpose.
- We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Lawful basis
We process this information because it is necessary for the legitimate interests of fire protection and crew safety, and because it is necessary to perform the service you have asked us to provide. Where you give us contact details through this website, we process them on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
Crew members: an important note for the organisation deploying IGNYX
If you enter another person's name, phone number or position into IGNYX, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so and for telling that person. Under POPIA a firefighter has the right to know that their name, number and live position are being recorded and shared. We provide the tool; the duty to inform your people sits with you.
Retention
Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Incident data synchronised through our servers is retained only as long as needed to serve the incident, and is then removed. Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and our records.
Security
We use encrypted connections for all data in transit. Access to production systems is limited to those who need it.
We will not pretend to more than that. IGNYX is a young product. If you are deploying it across an organisation and need specific security assurances, ask us and we will tell you honestly what is and is not in place.
Third parties
IGNYX draws on public satellite, weather and mapping services. Those requests carry map coordinates and, necessarily, your device's IP address to the provider. The providers are listed on the data sources page.
Our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare.
Your rights under POPIA
You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to info@ignyx.ai and we will respond within a reasonable time.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
Children
IGNYX is a professional tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy materially we will say so on this page and update the date at the top.
